In Memory of Charles Luckkett, aka "Nabeshin"

Charles Luckkett appeared before the registration desk
of Animania: Legacy's End already dressed in his
Nabeshin costume. To my surprise, I learned that he
was a walk-in who had heard, from a friend, that there
was an anime LARP, and that Nabeshin was a character.
Instantly, there was something about him that I liked.
He was witty, funny, jovial, and, most importantly,
he had a kind aura about him, one that made you feel
good about yourself. I gave him Nabeshin's character
and was pleased beyond words at how well he did, as
well as how much fun he had. I stayed in contact with
Charles over that year, through e-mail mostly, and was
constantly impressed by his kind and friendly heart.
When we hosted a fanfic contest, he was the first one
to enter, and his story was, by far, the funniest.
When I faced tough times in 2005, due to everything from
personal problems to Hurricane Katrina, Charles was
there with advice and good cheer. When I scouted out
Voice Actors for my video games, Charles was one of
the most enthusiastic supporters - he always completed
his lines on time, and his passion for the games he
was voicing showed in every word he spoke. A great man,
a great voice actor, and most importantly a great friend.
I'll never forget our last conversation. He told me that
he was going to get better, because Nabeshin had to have
a grand return. That will always stick with me. He loved
what I did so much, and he wanted to be there so badly.
And even though he cannot be with us in body, he is
with us in spirit. And because of that, because of his
love, belief, and wishes, Charles "Nabeshin" Luckkett
will be with us, with L.I.F.E., in everything we do.

In loving memory...
